Ssang Yong Cars - Kyron

Ssang Yong Motors introduced there new car - Kyron in South Korea. The name has been derived from two words- Kai which means infinite and run. Thus it stands for infinite freedom. It was initially manufactured under the code name D 100 in approximate 30 months and was reviewed first time at Seoul Motor Show.

Features and Design

This 4.66 meter long SUV may not be very impressive looking but promises you outstanding safety. In Korea currently there is only one 2.7 liter common rail design engine available and that surely is a Mercedes Benz unit. This 2.7 liter CRDi has the capacity of 176bhp and 350 Nm of torque. Ssang Yong may later also offer a 2.0 liter petrol version. The current Ssang Yong Kyron also boasts of a manual gearbox and five speed autos. Kyron is based on a customized Rexton platform, on a huge wheelbase of 2740mm. Another alluring feature of Kyron is the Road holding which surely is enhanced by independent rear wheel suspension. Other attractive features include a 10 speaker audio system along with DVD player, ESP, rear parking radar and descent control. Ssang Yong premiered Kyron in Europe in 2005 September at Frankfurt Auto show.

Owing to its bold lines on each side of the hood, Ssang Yong Kyron coveys the message of being both fast and rugged. It has reinvented the looks of conventional SUVs. The new Ssang Yong Kyron designing is classy and makes a great impact on buyers. Another important feature of new Ssang Yong Kyron is that the large but low cost 4x4 can also be converted into a van.

You may presume, new Ssang Yong Kyron of being the regular passenger car. However if you take a peep inside the Kyron CS model, you may be in for a surprise. This model does not just have generous space but has also credible off road ability. Ssang Yong also offers the two wheel drive derivative of the C-S. The cost of this model is considerably low but then it also looses the off road proficiency. The Kyron C-s provides the driver with a very high and clear upfront view of the road however it may not be a very good experience for the passenger rider as the ride is rather bouncy.

Though Kyron - C-S offers the maximum payload of 530kg, but it surely has a 2384 liter of boot space to brag about. It also provides easy access to cargo area through rear tailgate and rear doors. Despite the competitive and attractive pricing Kyron grossly weighs around 2530kg and is capable of towing up to 2.3 ton of load.

In nutshell it can be concluded that Ssang Yong Kyron is a decent proposition for both classes and masses. The C-S model offers space any other 4X4 van in incapable of offering and not to forget the affordable price. Kyron may not really appeal to customers who regularly need to transport equipments over some bouncy or tricky terrain as the ride may not be very smooth.
